Who We Are

Who is behind Terminal.

Terminal is built by the person who makes The Bird Bath, out of the reporting I do every week.

Terminal is built by the same person who makes The Bird Bath. I spend every week reporting on the business of veterinary medicine, and I built Terminal because the numbers I wanted were not available anywhere I could buy them.

Distribution

Terminal comes out of covering this industry every week.

The reporting and the database feed each other. One is why the other is any good.

Tuesdaysthe podcast

The news, the trends, and what is worth knowing about the business of veterinary medicine.

Thursdaysthe newsletter

What actually moved in the business of veterinary medicine that week, with the numbers behind it.

Who runs it

You will be dealing with me.

Ryan Leech Founder · The Bird Bath

The podcast, the newsletter, and Terminal. I spend my week on the business side of veterinary medicine, talking to the groups, the vendors, and the investors who move it, which is where most of what ends up in Terminal starts.

Small operation, on purpose. When you email about the data you get me, not a support queue, and when something is wrong I am the one who fixes it. Based in Dallas.

Why it exists

Why I built it.

  • The lists were wrong The lists I tried were heavy on corporate locations, light on independents, and refreshed slowly enough that a lot of it was stale by the time I used it.
  • Nobody kept the history You could buy a snapshot of the market, but not ask what a practice looked like last year, which is usually the more useful question.
  • So I built the one I wanted 35,214 practices, 40,564 logged changes, every field carrying its source and its date. Then people started asking for access.
